Clock In / Clock Out
Learn how to track working hours using Forkto's Clock In / Clock Out feature for accurate time management.
The Clock In / Clock Out feature in Forkto lets your team record their working hours. Staff clock in at the start of a shift and clock out when they finish, and admins can view reports across the whole team.
Overview
You can access Clock In / Clock Out from the sidebar or the Home dashboard. The page shows:
- A status indicator showing whether you’re currently clocked in (green pulsing dot) or clocked out (red).
- A live clock displaying the current time.
- A large Clock In button (green) or Clock Out button (red), depending on your current status.
- Your clock event history below, grouped by date.
If you’re currently clocked in, a Clock Out button also appears on your Home dashboard for quick access.
Clocking In
To start your shift:
- Click the ‘Clock In’ button (green).
- A confirmation message will appear: “You are now clocked in”.
- Your status updates to show you’re clocked in, and the button switches to Clock Out.
If you’re already clocked in and try to clock in again, you’ll see an error message.
Clocking Out
To end your shift:
- Click the ‘Clock Out’ button (red).
- A confirmation message will appear: “You are now clocked out”.
- Your status updates, and the button switches back to Clock In.
If you’re already clocked out and try to clock out again, you’ll see an error message.
Viewing Your Clock Events
Below the clock buttons, your events are listed and grouped by date. Each entry shows:
- Whether it was a Clock In or Clock Out event.
- The time the event was recorded.
- The duration between a matching clock in and clock out (e.g., “8h 30m”).
This makes it easy to see how long each shift lasted.
Managing Clock Events (Admin)
Admins have additional tools for managing the team’s clock records.
Viewing Other Users’ Events
Use the user dropdown at the top of the page to switch between team members and view their clock history.
Creating a Manual Clock Event
If a team member forgot to clock in or out, admins can add a record manually:
- Click the ‘+ New Event’ button.
- In the modal, select the user, set the date and time, choose Clock In or Clock Out, and select the location.
- Click ‘Clock User’ to create the entry.
Editing a Clock Event
To correct a timestamp on an existing event:
- Find the event in the history and click the edit button (pencil icon).
- Update the time.
- Save your changes.
Deleting Clock Events
To remove incorrect records:
- Find the date group containing the event.
- Click the delete button (trash icon) to select events for deletion.
Clock Reports (Admin)
Admins can view clock reports under the Reports section. The report shows:
- A summary card for each team member with their name, current status (clocked in/out), total events, and total hours worked.
- Click a user card to drill down into their full event history with a detailed table.
- Use the Export CSV button to download clock data for payroll or record-keeping.
Auditor Access
The Clock In / Clock Out feature is not accessible to users with the Auditor role.
Encourage your team to clock in and out consistently for accurate time records. Admins can use the reports and manual override tools to keep records tidy and export data when needed.
