Shared Devices & Kiosk Mode

Use Forkto on a shared tablet with quick PIN sign-in so records are always attributed to the right person.

When a tablet is shared between team members, kiosk mode lets each person sign in quickly with their own 4-digit PIN rather than a full username and password. This keeps records correctly attributed to the person who carried out the work. Available if kiosk mode is on for your account.

Setting your PIN

If you do not yet have a PIN, you’ll be prompted to create one after signing in:

  1. When the Create your quick access PIN prompt appears, enter a 4-digit number in the Enter PIN field.
  2. Click Set PIN.

Your PIN is personal — do not share it with colleagues.

Signing in with a PIN (Quick Access)

Once someone on the device has a PIN, the login screen shows a Quick Access card above the standard sign-in form. Everyone who has previously signed in on this device appears as a button showing their full name.

  1. Tap your name button.
  2. Enter your PIN Code (4 digits, numbers only).
  3. Tap Unlock to sign in.

To go back without signing in, tap the back arrow at the top of the PIN entry screen.

To sign in with your password instead — for example, to use an account not listed — use the standard Sign In form below the Quick Access card.

Switching between team members on the sidebar

A User picker appears in the sidebar, below the location and department selectors. Choosing a different name from this dropdown switches who subsequent records are attributed to, without a full sign-out and sign-in.

Signing out

Tap Sign Out at the bottom of the sidebar. This clears the active session. The Quick Access buttons stay on the login screen for the next person.

Biometric unlock (mobile app only)

On the iOS and Android app, you may be offered the option to enable biometric unlock (Face ID, Touch ID, or fingerprint) after signing in. Tap Enable on the prompt to activate it. Next time you open the app, an Unlock Forkto screen appears — tap Unlock to authenticate. If biometric authentication isn’t available at that moment, tap Use password to sign in with your credentials instead.
