Audits

Learn how to create, perform, and score internal and external audits in Forkto.

The Audits feature in Forkto lets you perform structured audits of your business — covering hygiene, structural, and management standards. You can record issues, attach photos, assign severity and timeframes, and generate a scored audit report.

Overview

When you open the Audits page, you’ll see a list of your audits displayed as cards, each showing:

  • Company name being audited
  • Audit type (General, Meat, Hygiene, or Health & Safety)
  • Status — In Progress or Completed
  • Date created

Click ‘Perform an Audit’ to start a new one.

Creating an Audit

To start a new audit:

  1. Click ‘Perform an Audit’.
  2. Fill in the basic details:
    • Company Name (required)
    • Audit Type — General, Meat, Hygiene, or Health & Safety
    • Address
    • Manager name
    • Pre-Audit Observations — notes about what you observed before starting
    • Time Started
  3. Save to begin recording issues.

For Meat audits, you’ll also see a section for tracking individual meat cuts by box — with acceptable/unacceptable status, weight, photos, and notes per cut.

Recording Issues

During an audit, you can record issues across four categories:

  • Hygiene — practice and hygiene issues
  • Structural — structure and pest issues
  • Confidence — confidence in management (CIM) issues
  • Best Practice — recommendations (not scored)

For each issue (except Best Practice), fill in:

  • Title and Description (both required)
  • Severity — Minor, Medium, Major, or Critical
  • Timeframe — Immediately, Within a week, Within a month, or Within 3 months
  • Corrective Action (required) — what needs to be done to fix it
  • Photos — attach evidence
  • Recommendation Only — tick this if it’s advisory, not a formal finding

Best Practice entries only need a title and description.

Scoring and Completing an Audit

When you’re ready to finalise:

  1. Move the audit to the finalising stage.
  2. Set scores for each category (0–30, in increments of 5):
    • Hygiene Score
    • Structural Score
    • Confidence Score
  3. Set the Time Ended.
  4. Review all recorded issues.
  5. Complete the audit.

Exporting an Audit Report

To download a completed audit as a PDF:

  1. Open the completed audit.
  2. Click the Export PDF button.
  3. The report includes all audit data — scores, issues, photos, and notes.

Use audits to maintain high standards across your business. Record issues thoroughly, attach photos as evidence, and use the scoring system to track improvement over time.
