Stock Management

Learn how to view and manage your stock levels across all intake types in Forkto.

The Stock page in Forkto gives you a unified view of your inventory across all intake types — meat, ingredients, packaging, deliveries, and produced products. Stock items are created automatically when you log intakes, and are consumed when you produce products from recipes.

Overview

When you open the Stock page, you’ll see:

  • Type filter buttons — filter by All, Meat, Ingredients, Packaging, Delivery, or Products.
  • Filters — search by name or product details, plus toggles to show/hide archived and out-of-stock items.
  • Stock cards — a grid of cards showing each stock item’s details.

What Each Stock Card Shows

Each card displays:

  • Internal name — the system identifier for the item.
  • Display name — the user-facing name.
  • Current quantity — shown in kilograms/grams for meat and ingredients, or as a count for packaging, deliveries, and products. Shows “Out of stock” if quantity is zero.
  • Product details — a description of the item.
  • Barcodes — any associated barcodes.
  • Tags — status tags like Archived or Recalled.
  • Halal certification — a badge if the item is halal certified.

Filtering and Searching

Use the Filters dropdown to:

  • Search by internal name, display name, or product details.
  • Show Archived — toggle to reveal archived stock items.
  • Show Out of Stock — toggle to reveal items with zero quantity.

Use the type buttons at the top to filter by stock type (Meat, Ingredients, Packaging, Delivery, Products).

Viewing Bookings

To see the intake records that make up a stock item’s quantity:

  1. On the stock card, click the three-dot menu.
  2. Select ‘Show Bookings’.
  3. A table shows all intake records for that item, including the date, supplier, best-by date, and quantity/weight.
  4. You can mark individual bookings as ‘Out of Stock’ if the stock has been used up.

Managing Stock Items

From the three-dot menu on each card, you can:

  • Edit — update the display name, product details, barcodes, halal certification, or adjust the weight (for non-booking stock).
  • Mark ‘Out of Stock’ — set the quantity to zero.
  • Mark ‘Recalled’ — tag the item as recalled.
  • Mark ‘Archived’ — hide the item from the default view (can be revealed with the Archived filter).
  • Delete — permanently remove the stock item.

How Stock Fits In

Stock is the central inventory that connects intakes to recipes and products:

  1. Intakes (meat, ingredients, packaging, deliveries) create stock items when goods are received.
  2. Recipes pull ingredients from stock to define what goes into a product.
  3. Products consume stock when produced from recipes.

You need stock items to exist before you can create recipes.

Auditor Access

If your account has the Auditor role, you can view stock items but cannot edit, archive, or manage them.

Keep your stock levels accurate by logging intakes promptly and marking items as out of stock or archived when they’re used up or no longer relevant.
